After initially having to postpone the inaugural Dreamville Festival due to Hurricane Florence posing a safety threat last year, J. Cole and his team have happily announced the rescheduled dates for the anticipated affair.
As announced on Tuesday (March 19), the first-ever Dreamville Festival is set to take place on Saturday, April 6 at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to confirming the new dates, festival organizers also announced some changes to the line-up.
While much of the original lineup is still set to perform as initially intended, there are some new additions, including 21 Savage and 6lack, while others, such as Young Thug, Rich the Kid and YBN Cordae, weren’t able to perform due to the rescheduled dates. Festival headliners will include Cole, SZA, Nelly, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, Rapsody, 6lack, Saba and Davido, among others.
In true form to J. Cole spearheading the label-organized event, the festival will also signify the first time that the entire Dreamville Records roster will perform at the same event. As previously reported, Bas, J.I.D., Cozz, EarthGang, Ari Lennox, Omen and Lute will each take to the stage. Given that the roster recently joined forces to create the upcoming compilation, Revenge of the Dreamers III, fans can presumably look forward to ample new material.
On top of the highly anticipated live music lineup, the festival will include a variety of onsite activations, including a putt putt golf course, an expansive beer garden, a row of local vendors, a street art component featuring work created exclusively at the event by local artists and students from the North Carolina State University College of Design and a dedicated VIP lounge reserved for members of the Divine Nine (the nine historically Black Greek letter organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council). The lounge area will provide an exclusive area for members of these fraternities and sororities to connect, network and relax during the festivities.
In related news, the “Middle Child” rapper is also rumored to be working on his upcoming sixth album. J. Cole recently covered the April 2019 issue of GQ, during which he shared how he is admittedly embarrassed of the “no features” meme that have become a cornerstone of his legacy.
