Gucci Mane and Jonah Hill are teaming up for a music video. Yes, you read that correctly.

On Saturday (March 2), the “Superbad” actor shared a screenshot of his text messages with the “Wake Up in the Sky” rapper and revealed their upcoming plans to collaborate. Hill, who has Gucci saved in his phone under his alternative name, Guwop, responded to Gucci’s text with the exact amount of excitement one would expect.

“Wowwwww been waiting for this text all my life. We gonna make a classic or what?” he wrote. “Hell yeah we gone [sic] make a classic I’m bout to send song,” Gucci shot back, as shown below.

While the esoteric photo didn’t give away any other details about the project, Hill did caption the Instagram post with more clues, writing, “This video should be interesting… [Gucci Mane] got the [Vampire Weekend] and [Steve Lacy] video coming next couple weeks. Music videos were my favorite growing up and I feel grateful I get to direct them with some of my favorite artists. Let’s go.”

This wouldn’t be the first time the Oscar-nominated actor has proven his love for hip hop. Back in 2017, Hill directed the visuals for Danny Brown’s track, “Ain’t It Funny.” He also featured several hip hop songs in his directorial debut film, “Mid90s.”

In an October 2018 interview with Pitchfork, the 35-year-old opened up about his appreciation for the genre, citing artists like Mobb Deep, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, and Wu-Tang Clan as his inspiration.

As for newer artists, Hill told the publication he’s a fan of Drake and Earl Sweatshirt, but called today’s generation of Soundcloud rappers “trash.”

Fans reacted positively to the Gucci and Hill announcement with one user writing, “The whole world will be waiting.” Gucci’s thirteenth studio album, Evil Genius, was released in December 2018 and features 18 tracks with cameos from Bruno Mars, Kodak Black, Offset, Quavo, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, 21 Savage and more.
