A grand jury has heard testimony from two women who claim they had sex with R. Kelly when they were underage, TMZ reports.
According to the site, one woman provided prosecutors with “physical evidence” of her claims that she had a sexual relationship the “Bump n’ Grind” singer as a minor. The woman told the jury she had sex with Kelly from 2008 through 2010. The nature of her evidence remains unknown at press time.
The second woman also reportedly testified about her sexual relationship with Kelly. Sources told TMZ her testimony “corroborated” details featured in Lifetime’s six-part documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly.” Up to twelve women have reportedly come forward to testify before the grand jury.
The reports come after attorney Michael Avenatti uncovered a new sex tape which allegedly shows Kelly engaging in sexual activities with an underaged girl and referring to her genitalia as “14 years old.” Avenatti released the VHS tape over to Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago last week.
At the time, Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg told CNN his client had not been contacted by law enforcement over the new sex tape allegations. Greenberg also told TMZ he was unaware that a grand jury was formed.
On Friday (Feb. 22), two more women came forward with accusations that they were sexually abused by Kelly as teenagers. Latresa Scaff and Rochelle Washington spoke at a press conference in New York City and recounted their harrowing experience with the singer in 1995.
According to Scaff, someone in Kelly’s entourage gave the underage girls, 16 and 15 at the time, drugs and alcohol at one of his concerts in Baltimore. Scaff alleges Kelly exposed his penis in a hotel room later that evening and had sex with her without her consent after Washington declined to a threesome and hid in a bathroom.
According to TMZ, it’s unconfirmed if Scaff and Washington are the same two women who prosecutors flew out to Chicago to watch the recently unearthed sex tape to help identify the underage girl.
