JAY-Z and Beyoncé are big fans of Meghan Markle. The couple made it very clear while accepting their award for Best International Group on Wednesday (Feb. 21). Although the Carters were unable to attend the 2019 BRIT Awards in person, the “On the Run” duo did take time out to thank the voters for their trophy on Instagram.
“Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group,” Queen Bey captioned a photo of the two standing in front of a stunning portrait of Markle. “I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova.”
Beyoncé ended the post with a sweet shout out to the Duchess of Sussex writing, “In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”
Beyoncé continued her praise of Markle by including the former “Suits” actress as part of her digital #WeGood series in celebration of Black History Month. “Today we’re pleased to honor Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Meghan’s background as a film and tv actress has allowed her to use her platform for good. Meghan’s charitable work in communities of color began years before becoming the Duchess of Sussex,” the “Formation” singer wrote on her official website.
The 37-year-old mother of three also acknowledged Markle is one of the “few Black women” to join the royal family after tying the knot with Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson, Prince Harry, in May 2018. “At the wedding her culture was front and center, and she and Prince Harry have continued to push the race relations dialogue forward both near and far,” Bey noted.
Harry and Markle are expecting their first child this Spring. Keep reading to get a closer look at the portrait of Markle included in the Carters acceptance video, then see the portrait he painted of Beyoncé as well.
