Fifteen years ago, Kanye West would change the landscape of hip hop music forever with the release of his seminal debut album, The College Dropout.

On Sunday (Feb. 10), the 2019 Grammy-nominated artist paid homage to his life-changing creation in a special way by utilizing a choir to perform a special rendition of his classic track “Jesus Walks.”

The performance took place during Ye’s uplifting Sunday service series. The weekly sessions, which kicked off back in January, feature the rapper taking a choir and orchestra through his influential catalog and putting a Gospel twist on each pivotal offering.

Taking to Twitter, Kim Kardashian shared a series of snippets of the choir’s take on her husband’s track, during which the choir sings the words in lieu of West rapping. In the third video, their daughter North can be seen adorably dancing and participating in the celebration alongside a friend.

As reported, a handful of the album’s key contributors were also present for the latest installment of the Sunday Service series including Consequence, producer 88 Keys and vocalist Tony Williams.

According to recent reports, West is currently in the middle of a new legal battle with EMI Publishing in hopes to get out of his contract with the company. West feels as though he has fulfilled his contractual obligations and is seeking a judge to rule that the contract ended. He’s also claiming the original agreement didn’t specify a closing date.

If his motion is granted, West will obtain the rights to roughly 200 songs that he wrote and distributed through EMI by the end of 2011. West has previously commented on the new lawsuit by likening the situation to “servitude” and claiming he wants to be “set free.”
