Usher is switching up his look to ring in 2019. Naturally, the singer’s new-year-new-me makeover is drawing a mixed bag of reactions on social media.
To kick off the new year, Usher took to Instagram to show off his freshly straightened and styled hair, revealing he’s rocking an old school pompadour look. The legendary R&B singer happily documented the process on his Instagram Live, letting fans in on the process behind achieving his new permed hairstyle.
“This ain’t going nowhere,” he joked. “I can’t stop touching it! I’m like the black Superman.”
When continuing to show off his retro look on social media, Usher aptly referenced the “Rat Pack,” a group of entertainers from the late 1950s who famously made their rounds on the casino scene in Las Vegas by declaring the era as the energy he’s bringing into 2019.
Among those weighing on the singer’s new look is Yung Joc, who was similarly also roasted on social media for his hair in the past. The rapper shared an image of the two side-by-side, posing the question, “Joc vs. Usher: Who Is The Real King Of Hair & Fleek??”
In other Usher news, police have reportedly arrested a man suspected of robbing the singer’s Los Angeles home back in March 2018. According to TMZ, authorities searched the suspect’s home and found “more than 2,000 items valued at over $2 million,” some of which belonged to Usher.
At the time, the singer’s estranged wife, Grace Miguel, reported that the home had been broken into after learning of a suspicious incident from a housekeeper. The home was on the market at the time of the robbery and the thief reportedly made off with jewelry totaling an estimated $820,000.
