Wiz Khalifa‘s career in music just hit a new level of success.
As reported, the rapper’s largest hit to date, “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth, has officially been certified diamond by the RIAA.
The track, which received the rare certification on Thursday (Dec. 6), has officially sold over 10 million units, joining the ranks of only 24 other songs. Eminem, Justin Bieber, Elton John, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are among those who have reached the elite status, as well.
The undeniably infectious single first dropped in 2015 as a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, appearing on the Furious 7: Original Motion Picture soundtrack.
The success of both the film and the track made history in different ways with the song’s accompanying music video becoming the fastest video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. It has since garnered nearly 4 billion.
In 2015, “See You Again,” also spent 12 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, as well as spent 14 weeks on the Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, respectively.
“It’s the biggest song that I’ve ever had in my career,” the multifaceted vocalist shared with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette at the time. “Every artist wishes for that, that reaction, that when the song comes on, everybody feels it. I’m blessed to have that kind of song and that kind of feeling happen. It’s just really good to keep people happy.”
Congrats to Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth on earning their first-ever diamond certification!
