Kanye West has had both a controversial year and a generous one.

Days after donating $150,000 to the family of Jemel Roberson, a Chicago security guard who was shot by police after displaying heroics and detaining a shooting suspect, Ye has also allocated a generous donation to go to various wildfire relief efforts in California.

During an appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kim Kardashian revealed that she and her husband have partnered with Adidas to donate $500,000 to foundations and individuals helping with wildfire relief in the wake of devastation caused by the Woolsey and Camp fires.

As reported, the Woolsey fire has been deemed one of the most destructive fires on record. According to Gov. Jerry Brown, the economic impact of the fires will be “tens of billions” of dollars.

West and Adidas are allocating $200,000 to the California Fire Foundation and $200,000 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. Additionally, the West-Kardashian family personally gifted $100,000 to firefighter Michael Williams, whose home burned down while he was fighting to save other homes in his neighborhood.

Yeezy and his wife were personally impacted by the fires, reportedly hiring their own private firefighters to help save their home in Hidden Hills, as well as their neighbors’ homes. The practice is reportedly in violation of California fire codes, with many criticizing how it could possibly put other firefighters in danger, among other complaints.
