Stanley Martin Lieber, the iconic comic book writer and co-creator of Marvel Comics known as Stan Lee, passed away on Monday (Nov. 12). He was 95.

The legendary creator, writer and publisher played an integral role in the creation of some of the most well-known superheroes including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Black Panther, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, to name a few. He also notably made cameos in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, adding to the charismatic nature of his personality beyond the page.

According to reports, Lee was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center early Monday morning where he made his transition. His wife, Joan, died last year at the age of 95. He is survived by his daughter, J.C., who shared a brief statement with TMZ reflecting on her father’s legacy.

“My father loved all of his fans,” she said. “He was the greatest, most decent man.”
