Kodak Black is working behind-the-scenes to do a bit of good. Recently, the rapper decided to make a generous donation to a family in need.
After learning about the death of South Carolina police officer Terrence Carraway, who was involved in a fatal shooting earlier this month (Oct. 3), Kodak made a donation of $2,500 to the officer’s GoFundMe page using his government name Bill K Kapri. Carraway was a 30-year veteran of the force.
According to The Blast, Kodak wasn’t looking to make any headlines or receive any recognition for the good deed. He simply wanted to contribute to the family’s fundraising efforts.
As reported, the 52-year-old officer was in the process of serving a search warrant on a man regarding a sexual assault investigation when the alleged gunman, Fred Hopkins, opened fire. After a two-hour standoff ensued, Hopkins, a disbarred lawyer, surrendered and was described as being unconscious, possibly from suffering a heart attack or another physiological response to the shootout.
Six others were wounded, including the alleged shooter’s adult son and three deputies. Officers responding to the scene had approached with extreme caution after learning there was a possibility there were four foster children, roughy ages 10 through 17, hiding inside the home. According to police, the children were discovered unharmed.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the Florence Police Department tonight, in South Carolina,” Donald Trump tweeted after learning of the tragedy. “We are forever grateful for what our Law Enforcement Officers do 24/7/365.”
At the time of this report, the Terrence Carraway Memorial Fund has raised $57,765 of its $60,000 goal. For more information about how to get involved, please visit the GoFundMe page.
On top of donating to assist the Carraway family, Kodak also made a contribution of around $10,000 to the Jack & Jill Children’s Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida earlier this month.
