Bad Meets Evil return.
For his latest Book of Ryan appetizer, Royce da 5’9″ reunites with partner-in-rhyme Eminem for a nearly five-minute display of rap calisthenics. They call the song “Caterpillar,” but the debris left after their lyrical firestorm can’t possibly fit into a cocoon. Royce, who delivers two solid verses, kicks things off, rapping lines like, “I eat lions and sip hyenas / You number one when it come to slaughtered mics.” His co-pilot, meanwhile, volleys a series of rapid-fire rhymes, including this potent tidbit: “Hold up like a flashcard / Damn dawg, is that copyin’ or payin’ homage? / It’s sad because dad taught you to rap as a damn toddler.” Later on, Em adds, “The boom bap is coming back/With an ax to mumble rap…”
“Caterpillar” appears on Royce’s forthcoming album Book of Ryan, due out May 4th.
