After months of rumors surrounding Cardi B’s pregnancy, the Bronx star confirmed the news on the biggest stage: during a performance at Saturday Night Live.
Cardi B’s first performance of the night saw her tearing through her hits “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi,” wearing a leather and feather outfit that covered her belly as a quartet of women danced around her.
But later in the show, when performing her more emotive song “Be Careful,” Cardi wore a form-fitting white dress – and when beginning her second verse, the spotlight spanned to her stomach, revealing a baby bump. The audience roared, as she finished her performance with a proud smile at the crowd.
Rumors behind Cardi B’s pregnancy began in February, after TMZ reported that she was several months along.
The news accompanies a positive weekend for Cardi, with the release of her debut album Invasion of Privacy garnering positive reactions from music critics and fans. The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on the day of its release.
Migos member Offset, Cardi B’s partner, tweeted a heartfelt message after the performance. “Cardi and I look forward to our next chapter together,” he wrote, with a photo of the two smiling at each other.
