Before it even hit theaters, Marvel’s Black Panther became the most-tweeted movie of 2018.
As reported by Variety, the film has amassed more than five million tweets and counting, with this figure arriving five days before the movie debuted in theaters.
Not only does the film have everyone talking, but just as importantly, it’s also selling out theaters across the nation. At the time of this report, Black Panther is projected to bring in more than $200 million over the course of President’s Day weekend. It was originally anticipated to bring in $160 million.
Previews Thursday night (Feb. 15) brought in $25.2 million, making it the second-largest preview gross for a Marvel film, with its Friday total reaching almost $76 million (including the figure from Thursday’s preview). This turnout marks the eighth-highest opening day in entertainment history, as well as is the third largest for Marvel.
