LeBron James’ production company SpringHill Entertainment will be remaking the 1990 Kid-N-Play-led classic, House Party.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, James said, “This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie. Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

Atlanta‘s Stephen Glover (brother of Donald) and Jamal Olori will write the screenplay.

Additionally, fans can expect a star-studded soundtrack as James’ partner Maverick Carter said, “We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project.”

SpringHill is also behind Drake’s upcoming Netflix revival of the critically acclaimed but short-lived UK crime series Top Boy.

As for if James will make a cameo, Carter said, “There’s no plan for it now, but he’s a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in.”

It has already been reported that James is also teaming up with Gabrielle Union to executive-produced White Dave, an upcoming comedy series will focus on “a young African-American teenager who has grown up in an all-white suburb who suddenly moves to an all-black neighborhood when his mom remarries.”
