As expected, Love & Hip Hop Miami has been pretty lit. A standout on this season is Bobby Lyte, a Miami-based, openly gay rapper who also happens to be the cousin of hip-hop vet Trina. He stopped by The Breakfast Club this morning and, during his entertaining visit, discussed the Diamond Princess, being accepted, and walking the runway during NYFW 2018.

On if the hip-hop industry accepts him: “I ain’t gonna lie, surprisingly, this year and last year, hip-hop has become very accepting of me. At least from what I’m noticing. I think it has something to do with the fact that I can sing and rap, I write my own shit, and I feel like I’m talented. And it has been packaged a certain way. It’s not about who the first gay rapper is. It’s about who is the first to succeed.”

On Trina’s thoughts on his music: “She thinks I’m good. She likes the music. She does. She has always noticed my talents.”

On modeling during New York Fashion Week: “This Saturday, I’m walking in a fashion show. You know what’s so funny? People saw me walking to the pool party and were tryna make fun of my walk. My arms were so flimsy and I was just looking like, ‘ah!’ But then it was funny because then designers were hitting me up asking if I wanted to walk Fashion Week. I was like, ‘Yes!’”
