Nas: "Every month is Black History Month"

The Queens legend teams with Google for a compelling open letter on Black identity and culture.

In honor of Black History Month, Google Arts & Culture teamed up with Nas to analyze the long lasting impression of Black music and voice to the American DNA. “Our music has been a relentless advocate for our story, which plays a crucial role in the American narrative: Red, white and blues, baby,” the Queens native shared in a compelling open letter for the platform, titled “We Continue to Rise.” Also accompanied by a video, we find Nas reflecting on the rich culture that continues to thrive and empower us today.

Black history can never be forgotten, but the future of our Black America is something to be shed light on. Black culture’s ownership of its leverage and economic impact in sports, film/television, fashion, and music is being unapologetically claimed. Get ready for the #NewBlackRenaissance.
