Held on Aspen, Colorado’s Buttermilk Mountain, the Winter X Games is presented as the ultimate mashup of extreme sports and music. In its 17th year, the GEICO-sponsored sporting event took place last month, from January 25-28. In the past, hip-hop heavyweights such as Nas and Nicki Minaj have hit the slopes to perform in front of the always-activated crowd. Pulling up this time around was Method Man and Redman, who both had some trouble adjusting to being elevated 8,000 feet above sea level.
“The altitude is killing me,” Method Man told ESPN during his visit. “Hard to complete a sentence without taking that deep breath.” Meth’s partner in rhyme, Redman, echoed his sentiments to REVOLT TV, telling us, “Long as I had an oxygen tank to give me some air, I’m great!” (The Scared Famous host did, in fact, need the air supply while performing.)
Although, he’s not an active skier or snowboarder, Method Man did admit that he holds a high regard for the talent that competes in the X Games. “Absolutely,” the veteran rapper and respected actor said when asked if he respects the moves of the competitors. “I see some of the stuff they do.” He’s even seen some tricks that he counts himself as a fan of. “My favorite move is the ‘Method,’” he unveiled.
Red and Meth weren’t the only ones to tackle the Coloradoan air quality. Stay tuned to REVOLT TV for our own Hannah Rad’s exclusive coverage of the 2018 Winter X Games.
