Jim Jones and his family were unfortunately hit with tragedy this holiday season, with the Diplomat rapper receiving the sad news that his mother’s home had burned down on Christmas Day (Dec. 25).
The Harlem rapper checked in from the scene, updating his followers on Instagram as firefighters responded to the situation behind him.

“On this Christmas, my mom’s house just burned down,” Jones says, recording a clip of himself talking. “But the best gift of all is that all my family is together, everybody is safe. It’s just crazy. Christmas was going good. I don’t know. Sometimes you just gotta count your blessings.”
He goes on to confirm that there were no injuries suffered as a result of the fire, pointing out his blessings and adding that he is refusing to let the situation get the best of him or his family.
“Today I was blessed wit th greatest Christmas gift in my life thus far and tht is my family gettin out of th house safe sound n wit out injuries,” he wrote, captioning his Instagram post. “We can always buy new houses new cars new evrything but we can’t buy a new family. On th flip side watchin my momma house burn touch my soul in ways I couldn’t imagine. I wasn’t raised wit my mother but my son was and his whole life of memories gone in a flash. If u know me then u know I’m gonna buy my family th biggest house I can afford and fill it wit more love. The devil is always workin but so is my God I got faith. Merry Christmas.”
While fans took to social media to share their condolences for the rapper and his family’s life-altering personal loss, it was also brought to Jones’ attention that someone had created a fraudulent GoFundMe page in hopes to perhaps capitalize on the tragic situation.
“This is a lie do not send money to this fraud its not us we have nothin to do wit this,” Jones posted, sharing a screenshot of the unassociated page. “I have insurance stupid lol it’s f—ked up people use other people’s tragedies to benefit from F—k u n go fund me for allowing this to happen I see go fund me allow allot of this bulls—t to happen they must b really makin lot of money if of people misfortunes ps thnku to everyone who text called emailed and showed so much love n concearn to my family we are happy to b together n everybody safe happy holidays from th jones’s.”
