Saturday night (Dec. 16) marked the third time comedian and actor Kevin Hart has assumed the coveted role of Saturday Night Live host.

While many fans tuned in anticipating he crack a joke or two about his recent publicized infidelity, Hart took a different approach, tackling life lessons and the positive affects parenting has had on him.

For one segment of his opener, Hart commented on the different roles that men and women assume when becoming parents, resulting in some backlash on social media with fans reacting to his routine by calling it sexist, offensive and outdated.

“You never heard a kid say, ‘I can’t wait to get home and play with my mom,’” the comedian said, during his opener. “You ain’t never heard that. ‘Can’t wait for mommy and me time.’ That don’t exist. Don’t no kids say that. All the fun responsibility lies on the shoulder of the father.”

The remark resulted in a flurry of tweets commenting on Hart’s distasteful perspective, with one viewer writing, “2017 has seen incredible progress for women. Kevin Hart’s opening monologue belongs in 2016. Disappointed in @nbcsnl for a #sexist opening monologue #snl.”
