One thing is for sure, the Diplomats are coming back together like the Justice League. But they definitely aren’t going to flop like the recently-released superhero film.

Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Freekey Zekey and Jim Jones realigned for new song “Once Upon a Time” and New York concert for Spotify, and they’ve already hinted at more to come. For their loyal following, who have been rocking with the Harlem unit for almost 20 years, it has been a time to celebrate that one of hip-hop’s most influential crews are once again locked and loaded.

Jones is this week’s guest on Drink Champs and, as he told host and longtime friend N.O.R.E., he enjoys the love from the fans and has no problem with his younger peers paying homage, as well.

“We did so much for the culture and set so much trends, when I do see a bird [gesture] up or niggas saying ‘Dip Set,’ they like my grandkids,” Jim said while sitting next to his fiancée Chrissy Lampkin. “I see these same artists in the streets and they show respect. It ain’t like they stealing no shit; they copying and pasting. They’re showing respect.”

He added, “Dip Set wasn’t about the hits, it was about getting a group of niggas, creating a movement and giving a bunch of niggas that came from the streets, out the streets.”

Fans can be on the lookout for a music video “Once Upon a Time” as the year closes out and 2018 kicks in.

Jones and Lampkin also talk to N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN about how their relationship blossomed in Miami, creating the controversial but highly-rated Love and Hip-Hop, and their hurricane weather report-gone-viral.
