Back in September, while still promoting his then-delayed Mr. Davis album, Gucci Mane took to Twitter to announce that he’d be going “100 percent independent” come 2018, when his deal with Atlantic Records was scheduled to come to a close.
But he seems to have changed his tune since receiving a new offer from the label. The rapper returned to the social network yesterday (November 8) to thank Atlantic for a “10 million dollar extension,” saying he “appreciate[d] it sincerely” and quoting the title of his reported upcoming LP, El Gato the Human Glacier.
After moving 70,000 units upon its release, Mr. Davis went to No.1 on both the Rap Chart and R&B/Hip-Hop Chart, and nabbed the No.2 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
Smart move, Atlantic.
