Hours after waking the rap world out of its slumber with her alarming new single “Wake Me Up,” the first taste of her upcoming second studio album, 7 Winters & 6 Summers, Remy Ma stopped by The Breakfast Club and shared quite a few interesting stories about the months leading up to the premiere of her gritty comeback track. One reveal in particular was her conversation with 2 Chainz after the release of his controversial Nicki Minaj-featured single “Realize,” which contained shots thrown at Remy.

When asked about her current stance with 2 Chainz, who admitted over the summer that the single definitely made things awkward between he and the Bronx rapper, Rem made it clear while there are no issues, she couldn’t help but feel a certain way about how the collaboration went down. “My thing with him was like, you was promoting this record going mad hard and there’s shots being thrown at me on your record,” she said. “I knew him since he was Tity Boi, and I told him that. When I came home you was 2 Chainz. Prior to that, I know you from that, [and] we was on tour at one time. So why would you have somebody shooting at me out of your vehicle?”

Adding to her point, Remy revealed how during the era of the Prodigy and Jay-Z beef, M.O.P. removed the Queensbridge rapper from the original “Ante Up (Remix)” plans, because of a planned Jay-Z diss.

Remy’s appearance on The Breakfast Club comes as she preps her long-awaited album 7 Winters & 6 Summers, which will follow her 2006 debut, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story. The release will mark her first full-length since her 2008 incarceration for a weapons and assault conviction. Like Gucci Mane, the Bronx spitter returned in top notch form with a strong comeback that has produced a string of fiery verses, a Grammy nomination, multiple award wins, and now an album that Shawn “Tubby” Holiday, the SVP of A&R at Columbia Records, is already calling “incredible.”
