As Sean “Diddy” Combs celebrates his birthday today (Nov. 4), Hollywood is preparing to play host to a special star-studded affair, with the 21st annual Hollywood Film Awards set to take place on Sunday (Nov. 5).
The annual awards show has selected Combs to receive its prestigious Hollywood Documentary Award, recognizing the music mogul for his achievements alongside Live Nation and Apple Music for the film, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story
The ceremony, which honors the most acclaimed films and actors while also previewing highly anticipated films for the upcoming year, is set to be hosted by comedian and actor, James Corden, and will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. Additionally, actress Kate Beckinsale will be presenting the honor to Combs.
Per the awards’ history, over 120 of the honorees have gone on to garner Oscar nominations and/or wins. In addition, this year’s awards will benefit MPTF, a charitable organization dedicated to offering assistance and care to those in the motion picture and television industries with limited or no resources.
The culture-shifting film, which was directed by Daniel Kaufman and produced by Combs and Heather Parry, provides a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the storied legacy of Bad Boy Records, telling the inspiring story of the legendary label’s meteoric rise and undeniable cultural influence. While showcasing the history of the label, through the good times and the bad, the film tracks the frantic three-week rehearsal period leading up to the epic reunion shows that brought together the family — Puff Daddy, Lil’ Kim, Mase, Faith Evans, Mario Winans, 112, Total, Carl Thomas and The LOX — for a special sold-out pair of reunion shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
