Even those closest to Nas will tell you, there’s nothing like experiencing the mic legend perform in his backyard.

“We in Queens, we in my hometown,” said Nas’ brother Jungle while backstage at the Meadows Festival on Sunday (September 17). We caught up with Jungle minutes removed from seeing his big bro beguile the crowd in their hometown of Queens.

“To see Nas do the shit in [the] stadium like this, it’s dope. I’ve seen him perform a lot, but in Queens like this today, was dope. The atmosphere, everything was dope,” Jungle said.

Nas was one of the fest’s headlining acts that took place in the converted parking lot of the Mets’ CitiField stadium and, on his way to the show he stopped in the Queensbridge neighborhood he grew up in to unveil his newly-renovated 1988 190 Benz. He and girlfriend Nicki Minaj took photos with the vehicle and posted them on social media. Jungle says his legendary sibling’s new whip is a vibe that more people need to get with.

“Nas, him and Nicki, you already know, some Queens shit,” Jungle described. “That’s the 190 back-in-the-day’s Benz for 2017. We do shit different. Everybody need to get the old school whips and hook it up for 2018. Old school, new shit. It looks beautiful.”

Like his whip, Nas’ new LP has a vintage and urgent feel to it, according to Jungle.

“His news shit is very ill,” Jungle began to boast. “His shit is for everybody. He’s got new music, old-school music that his fans gonna like, everything. It’s gonna be a dope Nas album. Everybody is gonna love this album. Everybody in the world.”
