Drake has been adding to his tattoo collection for quite some time now, with each new piece holding a special meaning that he occasionally leaves up to his fans’ interpretation.
Most recently, the 6 God got two new pieces done by a fellow Toronto-based artist, Inal Bersekov, who shared his latest work on Instagram. For this session with Drizzy, the tattooer added two new portraits, one of Denzel Washington and one of the rapper’s friend and OVO Sound affiliate, Anthony “Fif” Soares, who passed away last week.
Drake looked to the 1990 jazz film, Mo’ Better Blues, as inspiration for his portrait of the 63-year-old Oscar Award-winning actor, with the artist brilliantly recreating Washington’s character Bleek Gilliam. The tribute tattoo of his late friend was also adorned with the words, “Forever Fif,” in all caps, with both portraits done with impeccable likeness and immaculate detailing.
Drizzy also took to Instagram last week to react to the news of his friend’s passing, writing, “RIP to one of our family members…our brother. I still can’t even believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive. Forever Fif.”
As reported, it was recently revealed that police have released graphic footage of the fatal shooting, where Fif was shot in the building of a lobby in Scarborough. Police released the security footage in hopes to catch the people responsible for the crime. At the time of this report, the investigation remains ongoing.
