Yung Mazi, an Atlanta based rapper and protégé to Kevin Gates, was shot and killed Sunday night (Aug. 6) in the DeKalb County side of the city.

According to reports, Atlanta Police responded to a report of 10 to 25 gunshots just before 9 p.m. last night (Aug. 6). Police have not confirmed the identity of the victim yet. But it has been reported that Mazi was found in front of Urban Pie Pizza restaurant on Hosea L. Williams Drive with multiple gunshot wounds. Ironically, the pizza shop is right across from the Zone 6 precinct. Mazi was pronounced dead on scene.

Artists like Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug and Jose Guapo have taken to social media to send their condolences. Travis Scott did the same, along with revealing an unreleased song the two had done.

This is not the first attempt on the rapper’s life. Just last December, he was shot in the chest outside of a Waffle House. He reportedly tweet and deleted in response “God made me bulletproof.”

The alleged shooter is described as having deadlocks—possibly in a bun at the time and wearing dark jeans and white T-shirt at the time of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
