Diddy dug into the coveted Bad Boy Records vault and came out with a victorious combination for his latest audible surprise, “Watcha Gon’ Do?”
Taking over hosting duties on episode 48 of Drake’s OVO Sound Radio, the perennial music mogul-and-entertainer played a whopping mix of vibes, which also produced the anticipated “Watcha Gon’ Do?” collaboration that features Rick Ross and The Notorious B.I.G.
Featuring colorful (and signature) braggadocio from Diddy and Ross, the record rejuvenates Biggie’s classic “You’ll See” verse, which originally arrived in 1996 with a Lox sample and Faith Evans inspiration.
How a Faith Evans remix became The Lox & Biggie’s “You’ll See”
“Kiss my rings, it’s a Frank White thing I stay potent,” rhymes Big. Constructed with a classic flip of EPMD’s “You’s A Customer,” which also appeared in the famous Puff Daddy-orchestrated remix of Jodeci’s “Come And Talk To Me,” the new “Watcha Gon’ Do?” finds Christopher Wallace coming alive with his timeless execution. “What you gonna do when poppa catch an attitude / Drop to your knees and show gratitude,” he raps.
The new single also arrived with another version, one that features a flip of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.” Listen to both versions on Apple Music or below.
