Kendall and Kylie Jenner caught the wrath of the ‘Net after releasing a series of t-shirts that superimposed their faces on celebrities like Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.. And after being sued by the photographer of the Tupac photos used, the duo has responded.

Michael Miller, the photographer of the Tupac photos that were used on the shirt , filed a lawsuit against the sisters last week. He claimed that he copyrighted the images, and that the Jenners never asked for his permission. Miller’s lawyer Scott Alan Burroughs, said in a statement that the Jenners “at no times notified Miller that they intended to exploit his photography, let alone obtained his authorization.” He added that association with Kendall is harmful because of a recent tone-deaf Pepsi ad she starred in, which depicted her infamously giving a can of Pepsi to a police officer in an attempt to resolve white supremacy.

In a statement released Monday (July 10), Kendall and Kylie said that they obtained permission to use the Tupac photo from a company that rights to license the photos. They also said that they only sold two of the Tupac shirts before pulling them, and all of the shirts, from stores.

Michael Miller wasn’t the only person to speak out against the Jenners for the photos. Voletta Wallace also condemned them for using her son Biggie’s image, and lawyers representing The Doors have stated that they would pursue a lawsuit for the shirts that depicted the band’s frontman Jim Morrison. Kendall and Kylie have since pulled the shirts and issued a public apology.
