From a young boy to a rising star, the world has watched Quincy grow and come into his own as a talented actor, singer, and entrepreneur. We fell in love with him after his debuting star role in Brotherly Love, followed up by his role as Jaleel in the award winning film DOPE, and now his current staring role in the hit FOX series STAR.
Ready to take his music career to new heights, Quincy has embarked on a three-city tour to promote his EP, This is For You.
The tour kicked off Friday night (June 30) at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. As the room began to fill up with attendees of all ages, Quincy held an intimate meet-and-greet with a few lucky fans before the start of the show.
Opening the show was the electro-soul duo Miknna, performing selections from their latest EP 50/50: Side A. This artist/producer collective brought a new flare of music, with their synth-heavy tracks and alluring melodies, creating the perfect vibe for the room before Quincy hit the stage. With energy levels up and a growing anticipation from the crowd, Quincy opened up his set with his leading track “Sunshine,” followed by another crowd-pleaser “Suicide.”
After serenading the room with the sexy soulful melodies of “Waterfall” and “Late Night Flex,” Quincy was joined on stage by his Bad Boy labelmate and younger brother Christian “King” Combs. The second that King Combs stepped on stage, he instantly channeled his inner New Yorker, from his swag to the way he Diddy-bopped across the stage. Starting off with his latest song “Paid in Full,” Christian’s performance sent you on a trip back to the early 90s through the Bad Boy golden era. It’s evident that this apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
If there is one thing you can be sure about with this family, it’s that family comes first. There to support her sons, Kim Porter proudly watched Quincy and King Combs carry on the legacy from a small distance within the crowd, all smiles the entire time. Also there to support these young rising stars were Dennis Graham (also known as Drake’s father), Paula Deanda, and Ming Lee Simmons.
Quincy picked back up with “Me Time,” then really took the audience on a nostalgic R&B ride with “I Can Tell You,” a 1988 Al B. Sure remake. Before he got into the song, he gave a few remarks paying tribute to his biological father and got the crowd laughing when he made the joke “I am ugly, I’m my daddy’s son,” referring to the undeniable resemblance between the two of them. He then closed the show with his 2014 hit dance track “Friends First.”
From the start of the show ,Quincy captivated the crowd with his melodious vocals, complimented by a live band, altogether capturing the essence of a true artist. With his drive, support, and passion, there is no doubt that great things will continue to come from this talented 26-year-old. His fanbase just keeps growing from the TV screens to the stage, and we can’t wait to continue to watch Quincy own exactly what he was born to do.
