Kendrick Lamar has been releasing striking, thoughtful videos for his latest album DAMN., and he continues the winning streak with the new set of visuals for “ELEMENT.”
The music video for “ELEMENT.” has a series of violent images: a bloodied man, rival gangs fighting each other, and even a savagely violent K. Dot succumbing to his worst instincts, strangling enemies and beating one with a pool stick. The video is directed by Jonas Lindstroem and the little homies.
“ELEMENT.” follows the releases of two other videos: the visual for “HUMBLE.” dropped before Damn was commercially available, and a Don Cheadle-featured video for “DNA” released shortly afterward. Kendrick has built a reputation for videos with beautiful cinematography and deep messages, and this is no exception. DAMN. was certified platinum shortly after its release earlier this year.
