It was back in 2008 when two respective kings of collaborations came together to form a one of a kind supergroup. “We both have the same energy,” Lil Wayne, one half of the said kingpins, told MTV back in ’08 about his tag-team partner T-Pain. In that year, the two forces would join forces for T-Wayne with records like “I Can’t Believe It” and “Got Money” building hype for their then planned album, He Raps, He Sings. But for one reason and another, like Wayne’s other planned collaborative album at the time (I Can’t Feel My Face with Juelz Santana), the full-length project failed to materialize.

But as the delay nearly reaches the 10 year mark, a glimmer of hope appeared on Wednesday night (May 17) when T-Pain hopped on social media and played with the idea of dropping the project online. “I’m feelin reeeeeaaaaalll spontaneous right now,” the singer wrote on Instagram. On Twitter, he described the mythical album as “lost files from ’09” and explained that he’s “tired of em sitting on my hard drive.” In a tweet earlier, he toyed with the idea of leaking it online, writing “Do it?”

Given the current legal war that has left Lil Wayne in a bind, it’s up in the air that a T-Wayne album hits online. In 2016, 2 Chainz released Colle Grove, an album that was originally set to be a joint album with Wayne. However, when it arrived the tracklist of the LP was adjusted and limited Wayne’s billing to guest features. There’s also the ongoing hoopla surrounding Tha Carter 5. In related news, Wayne’s legal team has demanded that infamous pharmaceutical exec Martin Shkreli hand over his copy of Carter V and have sent cease and desist letters to Shkreli for leaking songs online.
