After announcing the whopping 40 tracks that would make up his eighth studio album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon, Chris Brown puts his soul on wax for his new single, “Die Young.”
Comprised entirely out of pain and fear, Breezy faces the idea of martyrdom, admitting that he’d like to keep his life, though, asks his fellow brethren to end the senseless violence that consistently plagues urban environments. Bringing the song home, Brown leans on an assisting verse from God’s Son himself, Nas, opening with “In the projects, it’s made so we don’t progress.”
The song also serves as an ode to Chinx, who was shot and killed in the Briarwood section of Queens, New York in May 2015. Borrowing the late emcee’s record of the same name, which appeared on his posthumously released debut Welcome to JFK, Chris takes a hard look at his life, acknowledging that his daughter needs a father to raise her.
Heartbreak on a Full Moon is currently without a release date and based on the tracklist released by Brown, “Die Young” is not slated to appear.
