Lil Yachty and Joe Budden were the subject of huge Internet chatter and memes this week with their debate on Complex’s show Everyday Struggle, and Yachty had a few words for Budden at the Rolling Loud music festival on Friday night.
“Anybody ever hated on you? Anybody ever tell you that you couldn’t do something you wanted to do? Anybody ever mad at you for being happy?” Yachty shouted to the crowd. “Niggas mad at you for being happy? At the count of three, say fuck em!” He then launched into his song “For Hot 97.”
Lil Yachty takes a jab at Joe Budden at Rolling Loud
The “mad at you for being happy” is a reference to when he and Budden got into a contentious conversation on Everyday Struggle. Lil Boat told Budden, “I am happy every day because life is moving in a very positive way.” Budden doubted Yachty’s assertion, leading to a conversation about the music business and Yachty’s career – and memes and think pieces for several days.
Lil Yachty also performed songs like “1Night,” “Minnesota,” “Peekaboo” and “Terminator” for the Rolling Loud audience.
