Anderson .Paak had a great breakout year in 2016, with his new albums Malibu and NxWorries (with Knxwledge) earning him a Grammy nomination, critical acclaim, and consistent presence at most of the year’s music festivals.
After a new Instagram video posted by the singer/songwriter, it looks like he’s back in the studio – and fans may have a lot to look forward to.
In just one video, Anderson .Paak appeared with several huge artists all at once: Bruno Mars, Nile Rodgers, and Disclosure. The video shows Rodgers jamming on his recognizable Hitmaker guitar, Mars tinkering on the piano, and Disclosure member Guy Lawrence sharing a laugh with all of them – and .Paak himself strumming on the drums, as he’s done in so many of his live shows. NxWorries’ song “Khadijah” is used as audio for the video, so viewers don’t hear any new music, but that shouldn’t stop them from being excited.
.Paak has been on tour with Bruno Mars since last year, currently opening up for the chart-topping pop star in Europe. But many may be surprised by the other inclusions in the clip. Pitchfork reports that Disclosure is on a year-long hiatus since their Moog for Love EP from June 2016, while Rodgers is going on tour with his Chic bandmates and Earth, Wind & Fire later this year. Anderson .Paak’s band the Free Nationals plans to release their album in 2017 as well.
