When 2Pac is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday, a New York City restaurant will pay homage to him.
The Lower East Side location of Sweet Chick, a southern restaurant backed by Nas, will transform in Powamekka Cafe from Friday, April 7 through Sunday, April 9. The occasion for the opening is Pac’s induction into the hall, which will be introduced by Snoop Dogg, his former labelmate on Death Row Records.
Powamekka Cafe is based on notes of a concept the rap legend came up with before he was shot and killed in 1996. A note from Pac’s notebook described the hopeful restaurant as “the perfect hideout 4 those who wish 2 escape the worldz [sic] cold reality.”

According to Reserve.com, the restaurant will have a curated collection of poetry, music and photos from 2Pac archives and his favorite artists. Menu items will include meatloaf, gumbo, and his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings – one of Pac’s favorites.
Powamekka Cafe was previously opened as a pop-up restaurant for one day in Fresno, Calif. in 2016 to celebrate Pac’s life. According to 2DopeBoyz, items included the California Love Chicken Sandwich, Hennessey Apple Butter chicken wings, a Mac-and-Cheeseburger and Thug Passion cake pops made of champagne cake and Alize-flavored frosting.
