On her forthcoming album, Strength of a Woman, Mary J Blige maintains that she’s created “one of my most powerful albums.”
Taking to Instagram and Twitter last night, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul formally announced the follow-up to 2014’s The London Sessions and unveiled its star-studded tracklist. Kanye West (“Love Yourself”), Missy Elliott (“Glow Up”), DJ Khaled, Quavo, Kaytanada (“Telling The Truth”), and Prince Charlez (“Smile”) make appearances on the 14-song project that she refers to as “so personal” and “most powerful.”
“This is one of my most powerful albums,” Mary tweeted Wednesday. “I’m excited to share it on 4.28.”
MJB’s latest release comes after the singer’s much publicized divorce from husband Kendu Issacs. “Overwhelming disrespect,” she told Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez this week about the origin of the former couple’s issue. “You start realizing this man doesn’t want you and you realize you’re by yourself in this relationship.”
Mary J Blige’s Strength of a Woman arrives April 28 via Capitol Records.
