Though “I Feel It Coming” is still climbing the Billboard Hot 100—and could see a boost thanks to his Grammy performance—and both “Starboy” and “Party Monster” have nabbed spots on the chart too, The Weeknd is reportedly already prepping his next single.
According to Idolator, “Secrets” will be the next to hit radio. The singer has reportedly been spotted filming the video for the track, which samples Tears for Fears’ “Pale Shelter,” at the University of Toronto.
Additionally, The Weeknd is infiltrating our eardrums via a guest appearance on “Some Way,” the first official single (as an XO-signed artist) from fellow Toronto rapper NAV, who we just heard on Belly’s “Re Up.”
NAV lets Abel do most of the heavy lifting on the track which fits right into The Weeknd’s wheelhouse: slowed, woozy, and trap-inflected.
One line in particular appears to be aimed at his new girlfriend‘s ex-boyfriend:
“I think your girl, think your girl, fell in love with me / She say my f—k and my tongue game a remedy / Oh yeah, yeah, I just hit a lick and I know you feelin’ some way / I just took that chick, and I know you feelin’ some way.”
The subliminal shot comes after Justin Bieber told TMZ: “Hell no I can’t listen to a Weeknd song. That shit’s wack.”
On “Some Way,” NAV cites the diss directly, rapping:
“The brown boy and the Starboy on a track / Haters gonna say this shit is wack.”
However, the beef doesn’t appear to be affecting The Weeknd and Selena Gomez’s new relationship as she reportedly footed from afar the bill of his $30,000 birthday party at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood on Monday (February 13). She wasn’t in attendance, but NAV, Big Sean, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Migos, and French Montana were.
