The rap phenomenon Don Dada will once again be hitting the big screen.
As Variety reports, an authorized documentary about the life of The Notorious B.I.G. is in the works and will be created in collaboration with the iconic rapper’s mom, Voletta Wallace. B.I.G.’s former manager Mark Pitts will also have a hand in the film via his ByStorm Films umbrella, as well as Submarine Entertainment.
Announced at the Berlin Film Festival on Monday (February 13), the doc is set to be directed by the Malloys (Emmett Malloy and Brendan Malloy) and will feature Biggie’s. The focus of the film will revolve around the impact of his work. Born Christopher George Latore Wallace, the Brooklyn superstar released two critically-acclaimed albums during his short career — 1995’s Ready to Die and 1997’s Life After Death. He died on March 9, 1997 at the age of 23 following a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. His last album is one of the few rap albums to achieve diamond status and a separate film starring Johnny Depp about the unsolved murder is currently in development.
No release date has been set for the doc, which is tentatively titled Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance.
