Philadelphia 76ers burgeoning new center Joel Embiid has become a force in the NBA, with his graceful footwork in the low post serving as a major factor. Embiid’s footwork on stage, however? Well, he’s no Chris Brown.
Embiid, who many fans and sports reporters felt was snubbed by not making this year’s NBA All-Star game, did participate in Meek Mill’s All-Star concert on Friday night. The seven-footer joined the likes of DMX, PNB Rock, T.I., Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, DJ Mustard, YG, and Nipsey Hussle who all came out as surprise guests.
Although Embiid didn’t rap, he did dance. Wildly. To Future’s “Wicked.” Meek laughed with delight and the audience cheered him on. And the night for Embiid went off without a hitch. His Saturday though? Not so good.
See, Joel couldn’t play against the Miami Heat. He’d missed eight straight games prior to Friday night because of meniscal tear and a bruise in his knee, according to his team.
ESPN reported that Embiid told journalists over the weekend, “Meek invited me to the stage. I had fun. That’s what I’m about, enjoying life.”
Sixers Coach Brett Brown said he’d also saw the footage of Embiid dancing, spoke to his star, and refused to keep their convo private.
