Though Anderson .Paak and Bassnectar hit this year’s X Games, REVOLT is celebrating #FBF with its Run the Jewels interview at the annual extreme sports event last year. The rap duo talked about the X Games’ unifying vibe, the importance of political activism, and the creation of their recently-released Run The Jewels 3 album.
Watch the full interview and read excerpts below.
EL-P on the X Games’ inclusivity: There’s a connection between skate culture and hip-hop and punk and anything that basically is comprised of a group of people who want to live their life in freedom.
Killer Mike on political activism: You engage yourself in politics because you pay to do it; you are taxed, therefore, you should have say in where your money goes.
EL-P on Run the Jewels 3: This was a record funded by fans with a common goal and it was done with love and humor and it would never have happened if people weren’t involved…our beautiful fanbase who’s really supportive and really cares about a lot of things…they made this happen for a good reason.
