Young Thug’s 2016 ended with mixed results. He was arrested, sued, and forced to apologize to airline employees by his own mother. But he was also confirmed to head overseas with Drake on tour so, hey, not all bad.
But it seems 2017 is proving to be just as challenging for him–or at least the people that work with him. Director Ryan Staake was hired to create the visual for Young Thug’s “Wyclef Jean” video but, despite receiving a loose idea for a treatment from the rapper (“kiddie cars”…”a lot of hoes”), Thugger showed up 10 hours late for the shoot, never got out of the car, drove away, and then sent his own footage two months later.
Full of story-telling captions, Staake’s version of the video isn’t “anything close to what [he] planned to film,” but here’s how he ended up filming kids with rubber bats, models he had to pay extra, police officers who threatened to shut the shoot down, and more. LOL.
