It really can’t get any more amazing or surreal. Donald Glover went up on stage twice Sunday (January 8) to accept Golden Globes wins with Questlove from The Roots DJing.

Glover’s FX show Atlanta won for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy, while the rapper/actor also took home an individual award for Best Actor In a TV Series Musical or Comedy. After thanking his family and cast, Glover reflected on how far he’s come since childhood during his Best Actor acceptance speech.

“I grew up grew up in a house where magic wasn’t allowed,” said the performer also known as Childish Gambino. “Everybody in here is magical to me. Every time I saw a movie or Disney movie or heard your voices, I was like, ‘Oh, magic is from people.’ We’re the ones who, kind of in a weird way, tell a story or lie to children so they do things we never thought was possible. My dad used to tell me every day, ‘You can do anything you want.’ I remember as a kid in first grade thinking, You’re lying to me. But now I do stuff and he’s like, ‘I didn’t’ think that was possible.’ So I really want to say thank you to my son and the mother of my son for making me believe in people again and things being possible.”

“Atlanta”: Learning Darius

Earlier in the night while he and cast stood onstage to accept Atlanta’s Best Series win, Glover, dressed in a brown velvet tux, shouted out the ATL and three of the city’s favorite sons.

“I really want to thank Atlanta and all the black folks in Atlanta,” Glover said. “For real, just for being alive and doing just amazing and being amazing people. I couldn’t be here without Atlanta. And I really want to thank the Migos. Not for being on the show, but for making ‘Bad and Boujee.’ That’s the best song, ever. Yeah, thanks to everyone, and thanks so much for this. We really appreciate it. We didn’t think anyone was going to like the show so we appreciate it.”
