Official details are not yet available, however famous friends of actor, comedian, writer, and producer Ricky Harris have confirmed that the 54-year-old died Monday (December 26.) Harris had roles in countless television shows and movies including Def Comedy Jam, Tales From the Hood, Heat, Moesha, The People v. O.J. Simpson, The Game, and Everybody Hates Chris. However, Harris is most known by hip-hop fans as TaDow from Snoop Dogg’s “Doggy Dogg World” video and the voice of DJ E-Z Dick from Snoop’s “WBALLZ/187.4 FM” interludes.
An emotional Snoop Dogg took to his Instagram page to speak of his friend’s death.
“Well y’all, I lost one of my dear friends today, Ricky Harris,” Snoop said in a video message, while “Stairway To Heaven” by The O’Jays played in the background. “A lot of y’all may know him as the comedian, but he was a real dear friend of mine. Ricky Harris rest in peace. Long Beach original, the first comedian from Long Beach to make it, the first entertainer from Long Beach to make it. My big brother, my homeboy. He’s on his way to heaven now. Y’all send a prayer out to Ricky Harris’ family from me. Love you Rick, Long Beach’s finest.”
Snoop later posted a picture of Harris on his IG page and wrote in the caption, “C u when I get there like we used to do in church on the Eastside. Tell Nate to hold my note.”
Snoop’s son Cordell Broadus tweeted, “Rest in Peace to my uncle Ricky Harris” and “This Hurts man.”
Former Snoop Dogg signee Big Tray Dee wrote on his Instagram “R.I.P Mr. Ricky Harris (aka The Dogg Pound’s infamous DJ E-Z Dick 187.4 FM on your dial) Long Beach comedic genius and legend, acted in movies “Heat” and “Hard Rain” etc. One of the real ones from the city. God bless your soul; we gon miss you, Slick. Give mines to Nate Dogg, Pac and Big Syke E/S.”
Elsewhere, Cedric the Entertainer showed love to Harris on social media saying, “Devastated!!!! RIP to the One and Only #Ricky Harris. Always been a super solid dude.”
Fellow funny icon Dane Cook posted, “RIP Rick Harris.”
And Mike Epps wrote on his Instagram page, “Damn gone 2 soon. RIP to the great RICKY HARRIS. I looked up to Rick a lot. Great guy, great father and a great comedian actor!!! We will see you in Heaven.”
Harris’s rep could not be reach for comment and no cause of death has been made public, however, the comedian did suffer a heart attack in 2015.
