We all know how good Donald Glover’s Atlanta is, but that doesn’t mean its actors are exempt from accepting losses with style and grace.
In a move Kanye West was once crucified for, Atlanta actor Keith Stanfield—who plays Darius, a character we’ve called a “hidden gem”—crashed the stage at the Critics’ Choice Awards last night (December 11) after the show lost Best Comedy Series to Silicon Valley.
Before Silicon‘s executive producer Tom Lassally could begin his speech, Stanfield got to the mic first and sarcastically said:
“I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way. We worked very hard on ‘Silicon Valley’ and here we are.”
Lassally’s retort? “No idea who that was.”
Stanfield’s decision to be a sore loser was a bit premature as Glover won the award for Best Actor In A Comedy Series.
Additionally; Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for Moonlight (which also took home Best Acting Ensemble); Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for Fences; and Thandie Newton won Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for Westworld.
