You might not have heard the name Raja Kumari, but you’ve heard her work. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has contributed to projects for Gwen Stefani, Fifth Harmony, Iggy Azalea, Timbaland, and more. Now she finds her own voice with debut EP The Come Up.
Raja is from LA by way of India, and the various sounds of her upbringing blend together on the project. The way she infuses pop and trap music with classical Indian influences is a sound better experienced than explained. Her singles “Mute” feat. Elvis Brown and “Believe In You” are already picking up steam, and she is set to embark on a tour of sold-out venues across Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore starting December 4.
“The Come Up is a collection of songs that mean a lot to me and the positive message that I want to share,” she said. “I can’t wait to finally be able to share a body of my own work with people who love music.”
The Come Up is out this week on all digital outlets including iTunes and Spotify. You can also listen below:
