Just days after being granted access to leave South Africa, where for months he had been held on criminal charges, Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, is ready for a proper comeback. Last week, it was announced that the rapper would be embarking on a run of final shows beginning later this month, and now we have the announcement of a new album.
Titled December 99th, the new album will find Yasiin Bey teaming with producer Ferrari Sheppard for a collaborative project that is due out December 9. According to a press release, the pair “spent the last year recording in South Africa” as Bey “awaited his departure from the country.”
