The Formation Tour ended just shy of two weeks ago, but Bey is still using her powers for good. At the Tidal X: 1015 benefit concert, she ended her second set of the night by reminding young people of the power they have to effect change.
“It can be easy to feel helpless and want to just block the world out, but doing nothing right now is not an option, y’all. I know it seems like things are bad, but if you think they can’t get worse, just ask your grandparents,” she said. “Remember Barack Obama is our president. You made that happen, young people made that happen. We are not helpless. The fire is still burning. Please go out and vote this November.”
Beyoncé went on to call back to the Civil Rights movement and other freedom fighters, telling the audience the work of those who have come before us has given us a voice that we must use to secure the future.
“So many people have died and sacrificed so much for us to have our voice; we have to use it. Get in formation. Use our voices to do something great for our children.”
