Rihanna debuted her second collection with Puma in Paris today. Upon arrival, her guests were greeted with champagne to help them through the long wait. Kicking off the show with Moroccan supermodel Iman Hamammam and tunes courtesy of Desiigner, Ms. Fenty set the tone with what we imagine to be her interpretation of “Parisian Urban Chic.”
While the designs that graced the runway were non-traditional, the show had an air of tradition rooted in Parisian culture that allowed each piece to have its moment to shine via a long walk the model’s took through three different intimate settings. In an effort to keep all focus on the clothes, RiRI pushes innovation by splitting the livestream into four different screens — which wasn’t the most enjoyable, but we see the vision.
Keeping on par with the shows thematics, Rihanna rolled out a collection of lace, silk, floral prints and shoe strings. Each design had detailing that, quite literally, tied it all in. She introduced us to lacy floral du-rags and extra-tall creepers paired with tiered silk floral printed jackets, bookbags, corsets and jersey track suits. She allowed her creativity to soar taking each item and giving it a destructive look of beauty with asymmetrical draping, as well as cutt-and-sewn garments of two different silhouettes. Each piece was unique and definitely a statement pieces for those of us that like to live loud like Rihanna.
