The return of Wavie Crockett will no longer be a dream.

Despite being handed down a 75-year prison sentence in 2009 for a deadly armed robbery, Max B received a reduced sentence on Friday (September 16) that could see him out in 20 years.

According to the Associated Press, Max, born Charly Wingate, entered a plea deal with prosecutors for the sole charge of aggravated manslaughter and as part of the deal, he since been re-sentenced to 20 years, which cuts his original sentence by 55 years.

The Harlem-based rapper was convicted in June 2009 for felony murder, armed robbery and other offenses after a September 2006 robbery in Fort Lee. This original trial saw prosecutors stating that Wingate, co-defendant Kelvin Leerdam, and Wingate’s ex-girlfriend Gina Conway, who took a plea deal and testified against the men, plotted to rob two men at a Holiday Inn in New Jersey. According to authorities, Conway and Leerdam ambushed the man (Allan Plowden) and his partner (David Taylor), shooting the latter in the head. Max B was sentenced to a 75-year prison sentence in 2009 for felony murder, armed robbery and other offenses. Leerdam received a life term plus 35 years after jurors found he fatally shot one of the victims.

According to his attorney, John Latoracca, Wingate will just have to serve at least nine more years, unless his sentence is further reduced.

The news of Max’s reduced sentence turned into a celebration on social media. Wiz Khalifa, French Montana led fans into excitement after breaking the news.

Max B’s PR team sent out a press release following the news, revealing that original charges on his 12-count indictment, which included first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree kidnapping, will all been dropped.

As a special message for fans, Max B himself, wrote the following:
