Often an artist comes to Los Angeles for the women, weed, weather and, yeah, to create some amazing music. And many artists have a studio home that they make those sounds in while visiting the city. For K Camp, that place was Lyric Ave. — an iconic street name that helped mold (and title) the prequel to K Camp’s full project dropping later this year.

The six-song EP of West Coast-influenced vibes provides a cool and collected way to slide into the fall, just in time for you to pull up on campus to the intro “Lyric Ave” where K Camp confidently proclaims verses that every young dude on the come-up can relate to:

“First off, I am not a rapper / Second off, we are not the same / Third thing, all you bitch niggas on the internet, you should be ashamed / Closet full of Alexander Wang / Louis loafers, you can say I changed / Louis jacket just to block the rain / Eatin’ lobster bisque with some champagne / RIP to Bankroll / Shit, all day been chasin’ bankrolls / I ain’t even change, I’m in the same clothes / Young wild nigga these hoes can’t expose / Young wild nigga that came in on fleek / Gotta get that lil bitch out my sheets / Uber outside, I see you next week”

Watch K Camp break down each EP track and spit his favorite verse from Lyric Ave.

This set of hits takes you through every mood needed during the quest for a good time in a city like L.A. Standouts on the project include “Touchdown,” a track that speaks to the art of flying a lady out to live the lifestyle for the weekend. “Ice Cream” has the bounce that we have grown to know K Camp for and a hook that will keep things cool when they get hot. Moving into “Free Money,” K Camp enlists his only feature on the project, Slim Jxmmi, for the next strip club anthem.

Lyric Ave closes out with a reminder that K Camp’s work ethic will never fall off as he raps on “Hungry n Lurkin” about this tireless grind and chase for new levels of success.
